About Estate Division

The Estate division of Directorate is responsible for managing and maintaining all the University properties. This includes overseeing buildings, land, and facilities to ensure they are safe, functional, and compliant with regulations, space allocation, planning compliance, and sustainability initiatives. Our goal is to ensure efficient and effective use of the University properties to support various departmental needs. 

The Division has been in existence since 2001 after De-Merging the Department of Physical Planning from the Department of Works and Services. The division have 2 different unit and they are:

  • Asset Valuation and Rating Unit
  • Property Management Unit

Asset valuation and Rating Unit

This is a dedicated unit of the division responsible for determining the current market value of assets, assessing their performance, and assigning ratings based on various criteria. asset valuation is done to determine the fair market value of assets such as real estate, equipment, securities, and tangible assets carried out by qualified estate surveyors and valuers. The unit is also saddled with the responsibility of conducting detailed analysis and research to support valuation and rating decision.

Property Management Unit

This unit of the Division is responsible for overseeing and managing all the buildings and development belonging to the University both within and outside the University campus. This unit ensure that properties are well-maintained, occupants are satisfied, and financial goals are met. Below is an overview of the functions of the property management unit:

  1. Regular inspections: conducting regular property inspections to identify and address potential issues.
  2. Space allocation: spaces within the University are allocated subjected to management approval to support various departmental needs.
  3. Routine maintenance: Scheduling regular maintenance tasks such as landscaping, cleaning, and repairs.
  4. Legal compliance: ensuring properties comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  5. Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
